NBC NEWS DIGITAL GROUP STAFFS UP WITH SALES VETERANS FROM GANNET, BBC AND THE STREET

Leadership team expands as news group takes over sales responsibility from MSN this summer

NEW YORK, NY—May 8, 2013— NBC News Digital Group announced today that it is staffing up its sales leadership team with veterans from Gannet, BBC and The Street. This announcement comes as NBC News Digital Group begins to take over sales responsibility from MSN following the acquisition of the Msnbc Digital Network from Microsoft in July 2012. Peter Naylor is the Executive Vice President in charge of sales for the NBC News Digital Group, a portfolio with an estimated reach of 73 million unique visitors per month including properties such as NBCNews.com, MSNBC.com (launching later this year), TODAY.com, iVillage.com, and BreakingNews.com.

Eric Johnson has been named Vice President, Sales Marketing, reporting to Naylor. Joy Robins has been named Senior Director, Advertising Sales, and Joe Damiano has been named Senior Director, Advertising Sales, both reporting to Brian Matthews, Senior Vice President, Digital Advertising Sales for NBC News Digital Group.

“We’re excited to welcome Eric, Joy and Joe to the team as we build out our sales organization to support the world-class digital offerings of the NBC News Digital Group,” said Naylor. “As we take over full sales responsibility from MSN in the coming months, we’ll be able to focus on serving our clients with innovative, strategic programs that leverage the breadth of our products and the world-class brands within the portfolio.”

These new hires round out Naylor’s sales management team of executives from previous positions across NBCUniversal. These include David DeRobbio, Vice President of Advertising Sales, previously with the MSNBC Digital Network; Leslie Prentice, Senior Director of Advertising Sales, previously with iVillage; Brian Matthews, previously with NBCUniversal Digital Entertainment, CNN and the BBC; and Melissa Thompson, Senior Director of Advertising Sales, previously with NBCUniversal Digital Entertainment.

Eric Johnson joins NBC News Digital from Gannett, where he was Vice President, Client Solutions for USA TODAY and USA WEEKEND in charge of creating cross-platform advertising solutions and marketing strategies for these brands. Previously, Eric was the VP/Group Marketing Director at Rodale Publishing, working extensively with the top digital and print products, including: Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention and more.

Joy Robins was previously National Vice President Digital Ad Sales for the BBC, where she spear-headed the introduction of the BBC’s digital properties to the marketplace. As National Vice President of Digital Ad Sales, Robins managed sales for BBC.com BBCAmerica.com and the digital products for Lonely Planet and Top Gear.

Joe Damiano was previously Vice President of West Coast Ad Sales for TheStreet, Inc. where he was responsible for revenue across all lines of business, including Display, Mobile, Video, Events and Content Syndication. Previously, Damiano held positions at Real Cities – McClatchy Interactive, Ask Jeeves, Inc., and AdDynamix.
